Meet The Band

Moontagu are a family band living in South Wales UK. The band comprises;
Ben Montaigue: Piano & Harmony Vocals, (25 years).
Eli Montaigue (21 years), Drums, Percussion & back Up vocals.
Kathleen Montaigue, (16 years), Guitar, Percussion, Lead and Harmony Vocals:
Erle Montaigue (Too old to Remember) on Guitar (Lead & Picking), Didgeridoo, Lead and harmony Vocals.
Aisha Chaouche Joined the band on Bass in 2006. (16 Years)
Sandra Montaigue is the backbone of the band and holds us all together.

Erle Montaigue is the main song writer while Ben and Kathleen are also beginning to write their own pieces. Ben has already produced his own CD of some of his piano pieces.
The band has been together since 1995 when Ben joined Erle and his older Brother, Kristian. Then as the other two children grew up and became more experienced and practiced, they also joined the Family band. Kristian now lives in the USA where he plays guitar for a number of bands. However, when he is in the UK, he always puts down some guitar tracks for us.

The style of music ranges from Folk through Blues and almost Jazz to Rock and instrumental pieces. Ben has also given performances of classical pieces on his own along with his own compositions. All members of Moontagu are Musicians first, all having studied their chosen instruments extensively.

Aisha Chaouche: (16 years of age) is a talented Musician playing Bass, Violin, Piano, Guitar and vocals. She is also writing her own songs for the band. She currently plays the electric bass for the band. Her songs "True Love" & "Shine" are featured on the new CD album "Feel The Fire". Aisha is from Swansea Wales.

The foundation of the band is Eli Montaigue on drums and congas/bongos. Eli has always aspired to be the very best in his field, studying great drummers like Buddy Rich and Ginger Baker.

All of the Montaigue children have been home schooled all of their lives allowing them to concentrate upon their music studies.

 

 

 

Band Members

Kathleen Montaigue: (17 years of age)

Kathleen has been studying music since she was 6 years of age. She is now (2008) 17 and studies guitar, dance and voice. Her voice has character and she loves true rock music as well as pop and blues. She has also written a number of songs which the band plays. Her guitar playing comes naturally as she has been around music all of her young life and is quite mature for her age.

Kathleen has also studied piano and plays percussion as well on some of the pieces. However, it is guitar and singing that are her first loves. Her song writing skills are such that she is now recording her own CD album.

Eli Montaigue: (22 years of age)

Eli began music when he was only 5 with saxophone and clarinet. He also studied piano when quite young. However, it was drumming where Eli found his forte when he was 14. He has studied with some of Australia's best drumming teachers as well as at the Sydney Conservatorium of music and continues to study on his own and will not allow a piece to be finished until he has it just right, he is a perfectionist. he also helps out with the occasional harmony. He also loves playing at acoustic gigs where he uses congas, bongos and djembe.

Eli is also a recognised teacher of the Internal Martial Arts of Tai Chi & Bagua. www.taiji-bagua.co.uk

Ben Montaigue: (25 years of age)

Piano Player, Sound Engineer, Video Editor, Singer, Guitarist, Bassist, Ben does it all.
Ben began learning piano when he was only 7 years of age. He attained honours from the Lismore Conservatorium of Music in 1999. He has a solo Cd album of his own written pieces and has also written pieces for the band. He has had a number of excellent piano teachers from classical to jazz and rock/blues. He likes all kinds of music and is also a perfectionist. He currently plays piano for the Dinefwr Male Welsh Choir in South Wales which he enjoys as it is totally different. www.learn-piano.org

Erle Montaigue:

Erle is the father of the band and has had hit records in the late 60's and early 70's. Erle is currently the main song writer for the band with Ben and Kathleen also having contributed material. Erle was voted one of the greatest rock vocalists ever to come out of Australia. www.taijiworld.com
